Carrier Wave is an amateur radio QSO logging app for iOS. It helps you record contacts (QSOs), track POTA activations, and optionally sync your log with third-party services.
Carrier Wave collects only the data you provide:
Carrier Wave does not collect or have access to:
All QSO data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData. Credentials for third-party services are stored in the iOS Keychain, Apple's secure credential storage. No data is stored on servers we operate, except as described under Community Features below.
If you enable iCloud sync, your QSO database syncs across your Apple devices through your iCloud account, subject to Apple's privacy policy.
You may choose to sync your log with one or more third-party services. Carrier Wave only sends data to services you explicitly connect:
Each service has its own privacy policy. Carrier Wave acts as a client and transmits only QSO data necessary for the sync. No sync is enabled by default — you must explicitly connect each service.
If you enable community features, your callsign and activity data (such as challenge participation, activity feed items, and friend connections) are stored on our activities server. Community features are disabled by default. You can delete your community account at any time from Settings, which permanently removes all your data from our server.
Carrier Wave does not include any analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking tools. We do not collect usage data, device identifiers, or behavioral information. There are no third-party SDKs in the app. Carrier Wave does not participate in any advertising networks and does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework because we do not track users.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. Data is only transmitted to services you explicitly choose to connect. We do not share data with data brokers or advertising networks.
We take reasonable measures to protect your data:
You can delete all QSO data from Settings at any time. If you use community features, you can delete your account from Settings > Activities, which immediately and permanently removes all server-side data. Uninstalling the app removes all local data from your device. iCloud data can be managed through your iCloud account settings.
Because Carrier Wave stores data locally on your device, you have direct control over your data at all times. You can:
If you are a resident of California, the European Economic Area, or another jurisdiction with applicable privacy laws, you may have additional rights including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we store data locally on your device and do not maintain server-side user accounts (outside of optional community features), these rights are exercisable directly through the app.
Carrier Wave is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information through community features, please contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
